Gordon Bajnai, an economist and businessman, was born in 1968, Hungary. From April 2009 until May 2010, he served as Prime Minister of the Republic of Hungary. Earlier, he held positions as Government Commissioner of the National Development Agency, as Minister of Regional Development and later as Minister of Economy and National Development. Currently Mr Bajnai also serves on the investment committee of the European Fund for Strategic Investments, a major investment programme by the European Union. In the private sector Mr. Bajnai has recently served as Group COO of Meridiam Infrastructure between 2014 and 2017 and earlier, between 2000 and 2006, he was CEO of the Wallis Group, a major Hungarian diversified investment holding. Between 1995 and 2000, he was deputy CEO of CA IB Securities, a leading Hungarian investment bank. During his career he also acted as Chairman of Budapest Airport and as advisor or director for Antin Infrastructure, Aegon Insurance and Raba plc. Currently Mr. Bajnai is also a member of the European Council on Foreign Relations, the Atlantic Council and the Advisory Board of the New Pact for Europe initiative, and was an adjunct professor of Columbia University.
