John co-founded Campbell Lutyens in 1988 with Bill Dacombe (formerly a director of N.M. Rothschild and of Royal Bank of Scotland) and the late Richard Lutyens (formerly a director of S.G. Warburg and of Merrill Lynch). After an early career at Rothschilds, John was an executive director of Noble Grossart for 15 years, representing the company in London from 1976 to 1987. Noble Grossart has been involved in the private equity sector as an equity manager and financial adviser since 1969. John is the only European-based Director of the San Francisco-based Pacific Pension Institute, a forum for private discussion with 25 leading global pension plans.
